Listen to Last Monday in May
Several of the writers will perform the “Last Monday in May†at the WWII Memorial on the National Mall as well as in the parade for the coming Memorial Day celebration. The single will be released to radio and media to raise the awareness of the program, and the full album Operation Song will be available via online retailers on June 9, 2015.
The vision of Operation Song™ is to become the premmier songwriting organization serving the military community stateside and overseas, and to train others in their therapeutic model. It is a unique treatment option to help individuals recover from the stress of war. The participants need no musical background, only the desire to tell their story. In a typical session, the songwriter listens and encourages the military participants to share his or her experiences. Together, they arrange the narrative and the end result is a complete song they can call their own.
Over these past 2 years, Operation Song™ has had coontinuous weekly programs at the Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN and in Clarksville, TN. They have put on songwriting retreats at the VA Women’s Center in Nashville, TN, The Wounded Warrior Project in Colorado Springs, CO, at Ft Benning, GA, at Fort Campbell KY, and in partnership with the VA in Chattanooga, TN. Tina Haynes, a licensed music therapist who has worked over three decades with veterans, also contributes her services.
Ward Davis is the vocalist on the first single. He is an American singer/songwriter from Southeast Arkansas. Since moving to Nashville in 2000, Ward has written songs recorded by Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Wade Hayes, Sammy Kershaw, Trace Adkins, and many others. While writing has always been a passion for Ward, his first love is singing and playing. He recently released his first full-length album, Fifteen Years In a Ten Year Town.
