Critically acclaimed Nashville-based singer/songwriter Mindy Smith will self-release her second holiday effort, Snowed In, October 29 on Giant Leap/TVX Records. Available at all online digital outlets, limited edition CDs will be available at www.mindysmithmusic.com.
Co-produced with Steve Buckingham, who co-produced Smith’s first three critically acclaimed efforts, the five-song EP offers two original compositions, “Tomorrow Is Christmas Day” and “Snowed In” along with three standards, “What Child Is This,” “Silent Night,” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
Recorded and mixed by Ed Seay at LOUD Recording in Nashville, TN, the album features some of Nashville ‘s best players, including Lex Price (mandolin), Brent Mason (guitar), Michael Rhodes (bass), Eddie Bayers (drums, percussion), John Hobbs (Piano, B-3, Fender Rhodes), and Andrea Zonn (viola).
“The holidays give us an excuse to go overboard spoiling our spouses, children and friends, and often times we find ourselves paying down the debt of the season the entire new year,” comments Smith. “In truth, we are all searching for ONE very powerful gift. “Snowed In” was written from the perspective of feeling fully blessed and only needing for the company of the ones we love and who love us, unconditionally. This is the true meaning of the season, even if expressing it through material things and kind gestures is fun.”
Since she charmed fans with her rendition of “Jolene” featured on the much-praised Dolly Parton tribute album, Just Because I’m A Woman, and the release of her 2004 debut, One Moment More, Smith has sold nearly half-a-million albums, including Mindy Smith, her self-released fifth album.
She subsequently released Long Island Shores (Vanguard, 2006), My Holiday (Vanguard, 2007) and Stupid Love (Vanguard, 2009).
TRACK LISTING:
1. Tomorrow Is Christmas Day – original composition by Mindy Smith
2. What Child Is This
