The new impassioned and poignant single “Someday” written and composed by former lead vocalist of Chicago, Jeff Coffey, touches on the stirring and dramatic events over the past year. Lyrics began to flow out fairly quickly for Jeff as he began to ponder the heartbreaking, powerful and harrowing moments of this past year. The moving and heart-rending video is available today on his YouTube Channel. The single, "Someday," is available for streaming and download here.
"...Someday we’ll all look back in time
Someday we’ll pay for all our crimes
Someday we’ll fix what’s going on
Maybe someday has come and gone
As the world goes round the sun
Is this all that we’ve become
Someday we’ll find we’re all the same
Someday we’ll end these violent games
Why must we fight for foolish pride
Someday we’ll find the answer why
As the world goes ‘round the sun
Is this all that we’ve become
It goes round and round and round and round
It goes round and round and round and round
Someday we’ll talk about these scars
Someday we’ll walk among the stars
Maybe someday we’ll find the truth
I hope that someday gets here soon ..."
“We seem to have hit a pretty big turning point in our society, and we have a lot of problems to work out with one another,” he shares. This song reflects that in the end, all is hopeful that maybe ‘Someday’ we might figure it all out.”
“Someday” came to life at Coffey’s studio in Orlando, Florida and co-producer, Rex Schnelle, completed tracking and instrumentation in Nashville, Tennessee. Coffey sang all the lead vocals and background vocals at his Orlando studio sending digital files to Schnelle, who mixed the project in Nashville.
“I chose to release this song and accompanying video now because it is timely, and I want people to hear it while all the chaos is still fresh in their minds,” stated Coffey. “For all we know, the chaos may not be quite over yet. Things are a mess here in this country. This song shines light on that, yet remains hopeful for us all.”
About Jeff Coffey:
Jeff Coffey is a musician, singer, songwriter who has released three solo albums which were well-received by radio and music fans. His songs are very relatable and bridge the gap between Pop, Rock and Country. Two singles from this CD "Through Your Eyes" and "Long Way Home" made it to the Top 20 on the FMQB AC/40 chart.
Much of Jeff's music has been featured on numerous TV shows on several major television networks such as NBC, MTV, CMTV, FOX, E! Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, A&E, Bravo and the CBS Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Through Your Eyes” was prominently featured on the prime-time TV show “Men In Trees” starring Anne Heche.
From May 2016 to January 2018, Jeff Coffey resided as the lead tenor vocalist and bassist for the multi-platinum selling, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame group Chicago. “Never in a million years did I ever dream I would have the opportunity to play with a band that I’ve admired my entire life. I’ve been a huge fan of Chicago ever since I picked up a trombone back in the 70s, and I thought Jimmy Pankow was most definitely the coolest trombone player EVER! Being on stage with Chicago was such an honor for me and I had the time of my life!”
Jeff’s latest album, ORIGINS was released in December 2019 with Coffey’s vocal abilities shining through on this album. ORIGINS is a tribute album to all the great tenor singers and the songs that inspired Jeff to become a professional musician and includes songs by some greats, like Sir. Paul McCartney, Sting, Queen, Journey, Foreigner and more.
Jeff continues to write and record new music, collaborating with many artists and songwriters. He also currently tours as bassist for Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame member Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles).
