country music superstar and passionate advocate of shelter pets, announced that her nonprofit, MuttNation, is partnering with the Waggle Foundation to form the MuttNation Fund to help music community members impacted by COVID-19 with their pets' medical bills.
Explaining how the idea came to her, Miranda, who has nine rescue dogs, said, “It really hit home when my backup singer and close friend Gwen’s shelter dog, Earl, became extremely ill in early March, just as the pandemic was taking hold and our tour had to stop. After taking him to several vets, she was told Earl had a rare liver disorder. Then there were multiple hospital stays, relapses, more hospital stays… Earl is doing great now, but he’ll require ongoing treatment for the rest of his life. It was such an unexpected major expense at an already tough time. So, it got me thinking that there must be a lot more people whose careers in the music industry have been on pause due to lack of live performance opportunities, and who are struggling with their pets’ vet bills. Because music and mutts are my two passions, I knew I had to do something and thought that starting this fund would help both the music community that’s been so supportive of me, and their pets.”
Miranda also said that MuttNation chose to partner with Waggle because, “It was the perfect fit for us. They have all the pieces in place and 100% of the donations go directly to their dog or cat’s vet, so everyone can be sure their support goes where it needs to go.”
Application for the MuttNation Fund is open to anyone who is a member of the broader music community who has a dog or a cat with medical needs and has been impacted by COVID-19. Music community members include musicians, singers, songwriters, engineers, producers, management, music venue staff and other music industry employees. You can apply for support here: wagglefoundation.org/muttnation/
MuttNation is jumpstarting the Fund with a generous matching grant donation, and the MuttNation Fund at Waggle will be supported and sustained through online donations by caring people who are moved to help after reading the stories about the pet in need on the MuttNation Fund page. 100% of the donations received are sent directly to the pet’s attending veterinarian. If more than enough funds are raised for any one pet, the extra funds rollover into the MuttNation Fund to keep helping more dogs and cats.
For all of Miranda’s great animal-loving fans who are not working members of the music community, Waggle can help you, too! Just go to the Waggle website and find out how to apply – waggle.org.

About Miranda Lambert
Vanner Records/RCA recording artist Miranda Lambert released her highly anticipated new studio album Wildcard Nov. 1, 2019, which includes the Grammy-nominated “It All Comes Out in The Wash” and her latest No. 1 country radio single, “Bluebird.” In January, Miranda embarked on her Wildcard headlining tour with special guests Cody Johnson and LANCO, which was prematurely halted in March due to the pandemic.
The most decorated artist in the history of the Academy of Country Music, Lambert is the recipient of more than 70 prestigious awards and special honors: 34 ACM Awards (including 9 ACM Female Vocalist of the Year Awards), 13 CMA Awards (Country Music Association), 2 GRAMMY Awards, the Harmony Award (Nashville Symphony), Artist in Residence (Country Music Hall of Fame), the ACM Gene Weed Milestone Award, ACM Song of the Decade Award, and was named 2019 RIAA’s Artist of the Year.
The celebrated singer/songwriter has released seven studio albums that all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Album Charts, including the critically-acclaimed Wildcard (2019), The Weight of These Wings (2016), Platinum (2014), Four The Record (2011), Revolution (2009), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2007) and Kerosene (2005). The pioneering Waggle.org crowdfunding platform, along with its sister not-for-profit, The WaggleFoundation.org, were founded in 2017, with the goal of preventing what veterinarians refer to as "economic euthanasia." This is a far too common, tragic consequence for too many companion animals (the estimate is nearly a half-million annually); this heartbreaking outcome occurs when a pet owner, unable to afford veterinary treatment, must make a wrenching decision to let a pet go.
Waggle provides an online crowdfunding platform, supported by a highly sophisticated infrastructure, to help pet guardians, rescues, and shelters secure the renewed health of their pets. Waggle enables pet guardians to showcase their pet campaigns online, bringing their stories to the attention of a very wide public. Additionally, in partnering with funds like Mutt Nation, Waggle can then, through these collaborations, match—dollar for dollar—donations from the public, adding twice the muscle to an individual donor's contribution. Waggle strives for complete transparency and all funds donated go directly to the treating veterinarian or hospital, not the pet guardian. The crowdfunding platform acts a lifeline in these heart-wrenching situations and eases the burden for pet guardians. Additionally, The Waggle Foundation provides support, as well as grants, to organizations at the front lines, which are fighting to decrease the number of pets who fall victim to economic euthanasia. www.waggle.org
