DEVON O’DAY, BESTOWED HONOR OF THE JEANNIE SEELY STANDING OVATION AWARD BY THE DONELSON-HERMITAGE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WOMEN IN BUSINESS

Country music royalty and fifty-two year member of the Grand Ole Opry, Jeannie Seely, presented broadcast professional Devon O’Day the Jeannie Seely Standing Ovation Award for her contributions to the entertainment industry by the Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce Women in Business at the second annual Influencing Women Awards Gala, PHANTOM.
The award was named after Jeannie Seely for her influence and significance in the entertainment industry and advocacy of other women in her field by mentoring and supporting them in their professional success. Seely generously shares her time, advocating for her community and various organizations.
“I’m so excited to see Devon receiving this honor. It has been my privilege to work with her, and more importantly, see the work she has done on behalf of others, including four legged friends,” exclaimed Jeannie Seely. “She is everything this award was designed to exemplify and continues to inspire the generation of females to this industry.”
“I’m moved beyond words to be recognized among this group of powerful women and completely blown away to be the second person to receive this award after the one for whom it is named. Devon O'Day is a career broadcaster with a resume' that includes her most recent position as radio host on Nashville Today at 650AM WSM and previously The House Foundation with Gerry House, Mix92.9 Nashville, and nationally syndicated shows like Country Hitmakers, The Saturday Night House Party, and America's #1s. Former Miss Louisiana National Teenager and pioneer of the plus-division of the Ford Modeling Agency in New York City, Devon O'Day is also the author of 4 books for Thomas Nelson/Zondervan and two for Abingdon Press among them My Southern Food and My Angels Wear Fur. She is also a staff writer for Guideposts’ All God’s Creatures Devotion division of books and magazines. Devon is also an accomplished author. Most of Devon’s awards, however, have been for service or charity work - SAFPAW (The Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare); St. Jude - Top Fundraiser Award Nutrisystem - Top Ad Campaign as Endorser in the Country and Kentucky Musicians Hall of Fame - For her support of musicians through the years.
Devon is also mentor to individuals in the entertainment industry and encourages everyone to volunteer and get involved. “One of the most important areas that singers, songwriters, and artists often miss, is the service aspect of what they do,” O’Day said. “There are organizations that meet weekly, that need inspiration, motivation, and your music.” She doesn’t take this lightly. Devon mentors Girls Scouts and Music for Kids, a leader in women’s ministries, and a Sunday School teacher. She travels on mission trips to support orphanages and adoption.
The Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee held the second annual Influencing Women Awards Gala, PHANTOM, presented by Springer Mountain Farms on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Sponsored by Ryman Hospitalities, Inc. and Pinnacle Financial Partners, the evening celebrated influential women and businesses in the community. Fifteen women and three businesses were nominated in six award categories. Additional honors went to Linda Ragsdale � Beyond The Glass Ceilingg Award, Kerra Bennett - Woman To Watch Award, L’Evate, A Leadership Community - Champion of Women Award, Mill Creek Mercantile - WOW Award, Nicole Vaughn � Hearrt of Donelson Award and Lucy Foutch � Lifetime Legacy Awaard.

Country music legend Jeannie Seely has achieved chart topping songs as a solo artist, as a duet partner, and as a songwriter. Early in her career, Jeannie’s deeply moving vocals earned her the nickname of “Miss Country Soul”� a title that�’s still used today.
