Fairground Saints – the buzzing California-bred and Nashville-based trio of Elijah Edwards, Meg McAllister, and Mason Van Valin – are set to make their Grand Ole Opry debut on May 31.
“When we moved to Nashville playing the Grand Ole Opry was such a major goal for us,” enthused the band. “When our team told us we were going to have our debut we immediately high-fived each other. We have been on such an amazing music journey and the country music fans and Nashville have been such a huge part of that. This moment is truly a dream come true.”
Fairground Saints will perform music from their just released new EP, Magic, which was released March 8 and is a joint venture between Sony Music Nashville and The Orchard. Produced by Marshall Altman (Natasha Bedingfield, Walker Hayes, Frankie Ballard, Amy Grant, Eric Paslay) and mixed by Ryan Hewitt (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, Dixie Chicks), the EP showcases the band’s breezy, California-county sound and their signature breathtaking, three-part harmonies.
The band recently returned from an impressive string of performances during C2C in the U.K. where response from the media and industry tastemakers was glowing: “Fairground Saints will come out of C2C as one of the acts that people can’t stop talking about,” said Entertainment Focus; “Fairground Saints were the highlight of the entire C2C 2019,” exclaimed BBC Radio; and BBC Radio 2 opined, “Fairground Saints were the secret gem to emerge out of C2C.”
And response from domestic media has been equally favorable with Rolling Stone picking them among the “10 Best Things We Saw in the U.K.” writing, the band’s “brand of breezy music and distinct Laurel Canyon vibe made the Saints instantly memorable” Taste of Country added, “Think Little Big town with a closer connection to West Coast sun and surf.”
Since returning stateside, the band has been wrapping production on their full-length album and touring on select dates with Scotty McCreery, Josh Abbott, and their own Southern California headlining shows. Taking the music directly to their fans is a cornerstone of the band’s mission and they will be on the road throughout 2019 including dates with Sara Evans and the Barker Family Band in May.
